It is a great honour for me to be Lady Captain of Ardee Golf Club in the centenary year 2011. I have been a member of Ardee Golf Club for 35 years and in those years we have had many significant developments.

In 1985 the course went from a 9 hole course to an 18 hole course. Then in 1997 with the acquisition of more land we got the great course we have now. In those years the clubhouse was redeveloped twice in 1987 and 2002.

We owe a great debt of thanks to the founders of the club who provided Ardee with such a magnificent facility and to those who followed and continued the great work of developing the course and clubhouse to a standard fit for the 21st century.

During our centenary year the ladies will be celebrating the 90th birthdays of four of our members, Mary Kerr, Sadie McCrohan, Sheila Gaffney and Maureen Taaffe. Thse ladies contributed greatly to our club and deserve our recognition.

In September Ardee Golf Club is hosting the All Ireland Finals of the AA Inter Club match play competitions, which is a great honour for our club.

I hope we will all take part in and enjoy the celebrations organised for our centenary year and I wish all the members good health and happy golfing in 2011.
